Trying French Kebab

Freedom on the TET: A kebab break, forest trails, and a pool adventure where boxers became swimwear. The journey's full of surprises! 😄

A Kebab Break on the TET

Not gonna lie, I’m not covering a lot of distance at this pace, but it’s the first time I don’t have anything pre-booked, so I’m free. It feels pretty nice to just enjoy the ride to the fullest and take breaks whenever I want 😄. That’s why I stopped when I saw a kebab shop—I really like kebab, and it was the perfect opportunity to get out of the sun for a bit. Around noon, it gets pretty warm, and I don’t want to ride in just my shirt—you never know.

So, I took a lunch break, checked out the kebab shop, and ordered with my limited French skills. It was almost too much! The portion seemed bigger than the ones we have back home. It was pretty tasty overall, although the sauce wasn’t quite the same. I was absolutely stuffed, especially since it’s harder for me to eat as much when it’s hot! That’s why I’m heading north! xD

To get my digestion going, I took a walk around the town and dipped my feet into the cold river, which was incredibly refreshing. I even considered taking a little power nap—almost 😄.

Kebab break!

The TET was becoming more interesting, at least in parts. I found myself riding alongside train tracks through a forest, which was a very cool experience. I captured some of the highlights from the day and put together a video!

No water for me :(

I arrived at a campsite in the evening, which was pretty full, but luckily, there was still a spot for me and the bike. Most of the other campers had caravans—not exactly my favorite way to camp, The ground was also pretty hard, so getting the tent hooks in was a bit of a struggle. Still, the campsite had a pool included with the stay, which I definitely wanted to check out after sweating all day. A cooldown sounded perfect!

I grabbed my bathing shorts and put them on before heading to the pool area, but they wouldn’t let me in with shorts! I noticed all the men were wearing speedos or similar, so I went back to my tent and brought the only non-cotton boxers I had with me. After a bit of convincing, they finally let me in wearing my underwear (don’t worry, they were fresh). The only problem? They didn’t stay on very well when I jumped into the water—I had to hold onto them! 😄

It was pretty funny, though I think the attendant only let me in because she saw me shirtless. At least, I’m pretty sure those were compliments I didn’t fully understand—but her side-eye said enough xD.

Maybe it wasnt a compliment after all ^^
