Prologue

Just two more days until my very first motorcycle trip! I just got my license a few days ago, so I'm not feeling nervous at all. Crazy how quickly the date came around!

Excitement!

I just got my license a few days ago, so I'm not feeling nervous at all. I had planned and booked this trip well in advance, so there was no chance of failing the license test!! Although it was a close call, I made a stupid error right at the start, but I got back my composure, and it worked out well!

My friend Mike recently went on a cool trip around Switzerland, and that got me inspired. Also, I visited Iceland for the first time when my friend Ina invited me to travel around in her car. I fell in love with Iceland right away. When we got off the ferry and saw the beautiful island with all its different landscapes, it was amazing. I saw lots of people on motorcycles, riding together into the wild parts of Iceland, and I thought, "I want to do that too!"

Now, almost a year later, it's finally time for my own adventure! I'm super excited, and I can't wait for the end of the week. I've got a new Tenere 700 motorcycle, an Enduristan Monsoon package to carry my stuff, a big tank bag, and I'm all set. Our plan is to get to Hirtshals in Denmark, as quickly as we can. We're starting our ride on Saturday morning, and the ferry to Iceland leaves on Tuesday morning. So, we need to ride about 500 kilometers every day, which adds up to about 1500 kilometers to get to Hirtshals. This will be my first time camping outside of Switzerland and riding in a foreign country. In Switzerland, you're not allowed to leave the country until you have your full motorcycle license.

I've checked my luggage about ten times, but I still feel like I might be forgetting something. Here's a list of some of the things I packed for my first trip:

  • Passport and important documents
  • My laptop and a mouse (just in case I need to do some work)
  • A GoPro camera
  • A power bank to charge my devices
  • A tent to sleep in
  • A tarp and tarpaulin for shelter
  • An insulated mattress and a sleeping bag
  • A foldable chair
  • Plenty of clothes
  • Rain gear in case it rains
  • A bag with my toiletries
  • Good shoes
  • A first aid kit

It might not sound like a lot, but when I loaded it all onto my bike, it felt like a whole bunch of stuff :D I packed enough clothes for two weeks, even though I probably only need half of that because I can wash them along the way.

I'm feeling really excited on this last night before we leave, and I can't sleep because of all the anticipation. I'm hoping for good weather, even though the forecast says it's going to rain.
